Last year the school nurse held a Biggest Loser competition and I didn't join in. And to be honest I felt like a not cool loser left out. This year I had to participate! So I'm in. Today was day 1 and our weigh in day. I don't anticipate losing much weight. If I lost 6 pounds in the next 10 weeks I would be thrilled. Losing 2-4 would be really great too. So clearly I won't be much help to my team in my percentage but I am helpful in other ways: for every 100 minutes of exercise my time loses 1 pound. I don't quiet get the math but know that me sweating is good for my team.
I am excited about the competition because of the team effort. I don't want to let my team down. And I would love for my team to beat the other team. My team is comprised of teachers and the other team is administration and office staff. It's all in good fun but the winning team and Biggest Loser does win some cash. I am already trying to clean up my diet and focus on better choices. Eating a pretty clean diet last year helped me drop weight last spring so it's worth the effort. Have you competed in a weight loss program at your work or gym? How did it go? Any tips?
I may or may not watch The Biggest Loser tonight. I am kind of indifferent to this season. Are you going to watch it?

I don't faithfully watch BL (I have watched a few times). But I'd love to participate in one, that sounds so fun! I can't wait to hear how you do!
I won't....I get too irked with the show sometimes. I still get inspired by it, and I'll still watch the final episode, but probably not a whole lot till then.
How fun!! I'm glad you're doing it - and very cool about your cardio counting as a pound! I've never done it before and TOTALLY forgot to tivo BL - dang!
The gym I used to go to had a Biggest Loser Competition. I didn't need to lose weight so I didn't join it, but I think this is a great and fun way to keep people sticking to their gym routine (and New Years Resolutions for some people)!
Sounds like fun! Best of luck.
I have never done a weight loss competition, but it seems like fun.
And, sadly, I work on Tue nights, so I will be missing BL.
That's really fun! I'm lucky that the people I eat lunch with a pretty healthy eaters. I know at some schools the lunch room is full of sweets to snack on. But I think it's great team building within the school to have something like this. Jealous!
I'd love it if my work did something like that! It sounds really fun.
I'm taking this season off from TBL. I'm tired of the crying and Extra gum commercials. :)
That sounds really fun! Can't wait to read about it.
Unfortunately our company doesn't offer programs like that - I wish they did, though! My friend is having a "BL" challenge with her extended family...it's so neat to see how they are pumping each other up.
I'm having a HARD time getting into BL this season. I had a few favorites last season, and no one really "sticks out" to me this season....
I did a weight loss competition with a group of girls a couple years ago. It really helped motivate me and I dropped about 10 lbs in 6-weeks! It was great!! Good luck!
Sounds like fun! Good luck! I know you will rock it!
Nice! That's great that you can earn points for every hundred minutes of exercise! I haven't participated in one but I bet it would be a fun team-building experience. I haven't been watching BL this season- I'm too annoyed with the beginning of last season!
can't say i watch it, but i'm loving your blog!
a bientot!
The Paris Food Blague
The show drives me *insane* but I still continue to watch it religiously...haha. I think it's awesome that your workplace is trying to get fit though!! Talk about great motivation to work out! :-)
Good luck Mere! I know this will be a fun motivation for you!! They other competitors don't stand a chance! (wink wink)
That sounds like so much fun! Good luck with the challenge!
Good luck with your challenge. It's great for motivation :)
